Bible Reading
The Bible was penned under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit by over 40 different authors from all walks of life: shepherds,
farmers, tentmakers, physicians, fishermen, priests, philosophers, and kings. Despite these differences in occupation, and the
span of 15 centuries it took to write the Bible, it is an extremely cohesive and unified book. Its singular focus is the LORD Jesus
Christ, and its prime objective is the salvation and redemption of all mankind.
In the Bible are sixty-six books. In the Old Testament there are thirty-nine books and in the New Testament there are
twenty-seven books. In all, there are 1,189 chapters comprising 31,102 verses. The Bible is the only lively Book of books.
“Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.” (Job 22:22)
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written
therein: for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3)“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his
way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the
words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” (Job 23:10–12)
